Functional Nutrition
Functional Nutrition uses validated questionnaires, symptoms, diet & lifestyle diaries, and lab tests to create a picture your body’s internal physiology. It is a systems approach to targeting the root-causes of disease and dysfunction. In other words, what happens in the gut affects your brain, your organs, and your hormones and vice versa; all the systems work together, bidirectionally. Treatment consists of a comprehensive diet and lifestyle plan and may include supplements or herbs. While simple, this is powerful medicine.
Conditions treated:
Infertility & recurrent miscarriages
Pregnancy-related complaints
Postpartum complaints
Chronic GI dysfunction
High blood pressure, lipid & cholesterol management
Autoimmune conditions
Hormonal imbalances, peri-menopause, menopause
Pre-diabetes & diabetes
Chronic pain
Functional Lab Tests
Other labs may be ordered based on individual needs.
Preconception & Pregnancy Panel
Includes sex, adrenal, & thyroid hormones as well as complete iron profile. $400
GI-Advanced Profile
Comprehensive stool analysis tests for 98 biomarkers including H. pylori, zonulin, calprotectin, infections, and short-chain fatty acids. $400
DUTCH Complete
The DUTCH Complete™ offers an extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones, cortisol and melatonin, along with metabolites, to identify symptoms of hormonal imbalances. $400
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis
A small sample of hair from the head actually provides a reflection of the whole body’s mineral status, particularly intracellular (inside the cells) activity—which is difficult to measure via bloodwork. It shows minerals like sodium, potassium, copper, and magnesium, as well as heavy metals like arsenic, mercury, aluminum, and lead.$400
Blood Chemistry Analysis
Bring in your existing Complete Blood Count (CBC) with Differential & Comprehensive Metabolic Panel that you had done at your annual physical within the past year or I can order it ($400). Analysis through a functional lens offers information about oxidative stress, anemia, hormonal imbalance and more.
I have a master’s in Human Nutrition & Functional Medicine through the University of the Western States in Portland OR. It was important to me to make functional nutrition accessible so I took additional courses in Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, Blood Chemistry Analysis, and functional nutrition for pregnancy. I am currently working on my 1000 hours of supervised clinic hours with Clinicians’ Incubator.
